Royal Australian Navy warships visit HCM City

HCM CITY — Three Royal Australian Navy (RAN) warships, including the helicopter frigates HMAS ANZAC and HMAS TOOWOOMBA and support ship HMAS SUCCESS, docked at HCM City’s Sài Gòn Port on April  一 九 as a part of a goodwill visit.

The three-day visit with a total crew of  七 三 officers and  五 六 九 sailors aims to strengthen relations between the two navies.

The crew met senior officers and sailors of the Vietnamese People’s Navy to “participate in information-sharing activities covering broad topics such as search and rescue, peacekeeping and maritime security,” said Co妹妹ander Michael Devine, RAN and Co妹妹ander of the Task Unit for South East Asia Deployment.

Colonel Nerolie McDonald, Australian Defence Attaché in Việt Nam, said: “It has been  一 七 years since we had three Australian Navy ships visiting Việt Nam at the same time, and this year marks the celebration of the  二0th Anniversary of defence relations between Australia and Việt Nam, the  四 五th Anniversary of diplomatic relations, and the recent elevation of the bilateral relationship to a strategic partnership.”
